PowerFeeder material conveying concept

The photo shows a VÖGELE PowerFeeder transferring material to a road paver on a construction site.

The efficient material conveying concept ensures better paving quality

The powerful conveying concept of the MT 3000-5 can transfer up to 1,200 t of mix to a paver per hour. This means that a truck with a 25 t load of mix can be emptied completely in just 60 seconds. The continuous supply of mix increases paving quality and ensures non-stop paving. Construction projects are completed more quickly and more economically.

The receiving hopper

The large receiving hopper with a capacity of 15 t quickly takes the mix on board without losses. The powerful, hydraulically-powered conveyor belt and the augers with a diameter of 300 mm transport the mix onwards. The high-performance conveying concept combined with the large receiving hopper makes it possible to unload a truck carrying 25 t of mix completely in just 60 seconds.

The coloured markings on the material hopper and push-rollers make the material transfer process easier, particularly in the dark. The offset and the additional seals in the inlet area furthermore prevent loss of material and soiling of the conveyor.

The conveyor

Precise control and special centring aids ensure that the conveyor remains centred, even when paving on a cross slope. Furthermore, the trough-shaped belt ensures stable, mix-friendly conveying and prevents mechanical segregation. This prevents loss of material and reduces wear on components.

Optimum control of the conveyor belt heating reliably maintains the mix at temperature and counteracts adhesion of the material. The belt temperature is measured and controlled by a sensor. Even critical mixes such as low-temperature asphalt can thus be conveyed without temperature losses.

The slewing conveyor

Outstanding flexibility for the MT 3000-5 Offset: in addition to the primary conveyor, the offset PowerFeeder has a long slewing conveyor. This can be slewed by up to 55° to the right and left for transferring mix from the side or for hot-to-hot paving. The maximum lateral offset from the PowerFeeder to the centre of the discharge point is therefore 3.50 m. The slewing conveyor can be raised by 23° from the horizontal to a discharge height of 3.60 m. As a further option, this can even be increased to 3.90 m. This allows, for example, best possible transfer of mix to an InLine Pave train or to a paver with a large extra material hopper.

Advantages of the material conveying concept
  • Powerful conveying concept for up to 1,200 t/h
  • Perfect receiving hopper geometry with a volume of 15 tonnes
  • Reflectors on the edges of the hopper sides for safe docking
  • Trough-shaped conveyor belt with optimum belt running
  • Innovative diesel heating with new control system prevents adhesion of the mix

Paving with warm mix asphalt (WMA): VÖGELE solutions

Thanks to their reliable material conveying concept, the MT 3000 series PowerFeeders also prevent premature cooling and thermal demixing of warm mix asphalts (WMA). VÖGELE also offers a range of other solutions for paving with WMA.
